All placements and methods of joinery (dowels, biscuits, RTA fasteners) would be outside this domain. My goal for the initial software release has been to provide a basic product that can design/layout cabinets and whose generated cutlist can be trusted regarding material, dimensions, grain orientation and banding. What were the things that interested you the most, and which ones do you think are critical for the initial release? I'm hoping that the level of complexity for SU to provide the feature won't be prohibitive and that it might fit strategicaly for growing their product. A few months back, I submitted an enhancement request to the Sketchup team that would make this a relatively simple matter. Programatically, it presents some challenges to try and implement this within the current feature set of dynamic components. My software assumes that the cabinet builder will use their own methods for determining this (jigs, measurements, build notes, knowledge.). At this time, I rely on Layout to provide this capability, but I would love to have this done automatically for me.Ģ) joinery hardware and placements. as well as for forming the final specifications of any contract. These kind of documents are crucial if you are bidding on commercial work. The features demonstrated in the videos would make good additions to the software and I think it would make sense to plan for some of these in future versions.ġ) Architecural line drawings.
